General Update....

Wow! I haven't posted in a REALLY long time - over a month!

So just some new updates. A Presbyterian youth group from Honeoye Falls is traveling down to the same place I am at about the same time as I was going to travel down. So now I am going to be traveling down with them! I am really excited about meeting and getting to know them....

As for school......Thanksgiving break just started and it is a MUCH needed break! My MCC courses will be over by December 15th at the latest and then I'll only have my 4 LCS courses to worry about! My patience with homework is quickly dwindling as the countdown in my planner is sure to tell. =P (35 more days until graduation!!!)

Right now, I am trying to figure out visas and that sort of thing. Details details details!

That's all that's really new going on here. I just thought I would check in with an update. I hope you have a splendid holiday season! God bless.....!

Thank You to EVERYONE!!!

I just wanted to my send out a huge THANK YOU to all my volunteers and everyone who came and supported me!!! Because of all of you wonderful people, I am that much closer to my ultimate goal of $5,000!

I am constantly being reminded of and amazed by the generosity of people! People freely gave their ENTIRE Saturday night to help me out and did a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious job as well! And the people who came to the pasta dinner and donated so much more than they had to. All this generosity absolutely awes me every single time I think about it.

So one more time but certainly not the last..................

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

What's the point?

After sending out a mass email to all my friends and acquaintances asking people to look at my blog, I realized that there is really not much information for all of you to read. The question was asked, "Why should I support you? What's the point?" This post is for you.

THE POINT.

Last February, I took a mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico with my Spanish teacher, Mr. Nelson, and others from my school. While there, I learned a lot of new things about myself, Mexican culture and, most importantly, God.

Going down, I honestly did not know much about what my feelings were on God. To tell you the truth, I really wasn't even in a place where I felt that God was a prominent part of my life or if it ever would be. I thought of this trip as a glorified vacation where I would probably help people and (hopefully!) get a tan. What I expected was not at all what God had in store for me...

First off, I didn't get a tan.

What is more important than my vitamin D intake is what I saw and experienced with these people. It was life changing.

Up in the mountains, with the native people, I saw little girls who are married off as soon as they reach the age where they can bring in a good price for the family. Kids rarely grow up seeing love displayed in their parents because, more often than not, their parents do not love each other. Because of the lack of love, kids do not grow up learning or knowing what love is. It's a horrible cycle of lovelessness.

These people do not know the meaning of love. What could be better than the first real experience they have of love being the love of Jesus!?!?! How AWESOME would that be?! That is the main reason why I am going back is to show these people Christ's love, compassion and forgiveness.

I hope that this post gave you a little insight into what "the point" is. If you have anymore questions about anything at all, do not hesitate to reply or email me at kaydon3@gmail.com. Thank you for your time.=D

The first attempt.

So this is the first time I've ever even attempted to try and blog on a regular basis. I'm not really sure how it will work out....

I thought that it would be good to have something that my friends and family could check as often as they want when I'm in Mexico. As most people who know me know that it will be impossibly too expensive for me to talk as much as I do now while I'm in Mexico.

I am curently planning a dinner and silent auction as well as other things. I will be semi-regularly updating this with fundraising dates and progress prior to leaving so I can keep you informed.
